why SET?

When I dreamed up a Culture Strategy Collaborative, I always knew it would be called SET. Why? I couldn’t stop thinking about the moment right before you go. Ready - SET - go

The table being SET and ready for the gathering, a thoughtful, deliberate tablescape with a welcome place for each person, with the tools they need to engage in a meal, rich conversation and connection. There’s beauty, ceremony, culture and a plan.

The stage SET for the players to tell their stories. Props in just the right places, rehearsals to ensure we’re ready for the big show.

The sunSET on the day and we gather around to witness the event. We pull our cars over to capture it. We toast to it. It’s ceremony and ritual around the day’s end.

The reSET of a watch and all technology. Not working? Let’s try again, fresh and new.

Getting your hair SET, readying you for a special occasion to look and feel your best. Same head of hair, with some tools to make it shine and some staying power to sustain the night through.

A tea SET and tool SET, each piece mattering to make the whole. A sense of belonging and purpose for each. You need every one of those cups, saucers and dang screwdrivers.

Always one to love a metaphor, they kept coming (and coming and coming) and they kept feeling like the exact right thing: I want this Collaborative to get leaders and their teams SET for all that they want to take on, to feel and be at their best, to get unstuck and lead richer lives full of ease, clarity, justice and joy.

Entrepreneurs and social impact leaders are my sweet spot.

But I also love helping parents get SET as they consider expanding their impact, mid-career leaders as they think about what’s next and how to get themselves SET in the next seat, moving mid-level executives into C-Suite positions and perimenopausal women making sense and getting SET (and resourced) for the next stage of feminine power.

Recently, I’ve been leading teams in SETs and reSETs. New boards coming together for clear purpose and impact, teams in transition needing a reSET before a big growth stage and for a new team seeking focus and a alignment, a goal-SETting retreat.

Pick your metaphor and let’s get SET. Together.
